The Senator worked as a customs officer for 23 years, reaching the rank of captain before becoming a school counselor. He has knowledge of customs laws, policies, and related issues.

Sen. San Nicolas served as a school guidance counselor at Southern High. He served as the Freshman Academy Counselor. It was where that he saw firsthand the struggles students, teachers, and administrators deal with day in and day out.

Senator San Nicolas is a proud veteran who served in the Army National Guard as an infantry soldier! He was ordered to active duty and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009.

Senator San Nicolas has served as a non-denominational ordained minister since 2011. He officiates wedding ceremonies as a way of contributing to the community. He considers uniting couples and offering prayers on their behalf both an honor and a privilege. He believes that marriage, when founded on genuine commitment to shared vows, serves as an important basis for a fulfilling and contented life.

The Senator married Ellene Asiaten and the have 4 children. Their kids are productive members of the community. They share the same love of country and island. Their eldest is a school guidance counselor, their eldest son is a Marine, their youngest daughter is an Army officer, and their youngest son currently serves as an active-duty member of the United States Airforce.

Senator San Nicolas tragically lost his mom at the age of four and was raised by his dad in the village of Agat. His mom And dad instilled in him love, compassion, kindness, respect and a sense of duty. His work is a testament to their memory. Their memory is a blessing to me 🌻
